1988 Letter from Grandma

Dec. 1988
Pleasant Grove

Dearest Family,

1988 has been a very busy year for the old folks. We skipped out vacation and didn't even miss it.  There was so much to do here at home. Having made it through the winter, we had a great blessing on Decoration Day. We got our darling little Ashley Anne - such a joy!

In June Kathy, Bruce and family spent a week with us on their way to Arizona. We really got reaquainted when Kathy and the kids came back to spend July here in P.G. We had a good visit with Grandma Jen and all the girls while she was here.

Most of the summer was spent working to raise a big garden again, which I swore not to do until after I retired from the hospital. I'm still there 3 days a week but had time to stash away a winter and spring supply of food, in the cellar. We also had extra to give away which made us very happy.

Dad still had the water job and farm to keep him busy - maybe almost too much to worry about. It was a strange year with the crops maturing too early - much too hot a summer.

In August we got out precious little Jacob, such a great present! We can hardly believe there are now forty-one grandchildren.

October brought us a very short visit from David and Eric.  They had a fun deer hunt with the gang. It was great to have them here.

That's about it, except for a few weddings and funerals and all too few visit to the temple and to you all.  The year was spent pretty much at home with all of you, our loved ones, on our minds and in our hearts.  We rejoiced with you over the grandchildren's accomplishments and worried with you.  We hope we helped a little.  God bless you.  Merry Christmas.

Love,

Mom and Dad
